Chelsea Raines-Germany, a former standout softball star from Ackerman, MS, will be formally inducted into the Â鶹´«Ã½ Sports Hall of Fame on April 9—an honor that celebrates her extraordinary junior college career and her continued achievements both on and off the field.
Raines-Germany began her athletic journey at Ackerman High School—now known as Choctaw County High School—before becoming a powerhouse player at Â鶹´«Ã½ from 2007 to 2009 under Head Coach Ricky Casey. She made an immediate impact as a freshman, earning Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Second-Team All-State honors. That season, she posted a .298 batting average, launched five home runs, drove in 18 runs, scored 18 times, and went a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases.
Her sophomore campaign elevated her into a new level of excellence. Raines-Germany earned All-State and All-Region honors, captured Region MVP, and delivered a phenomenal .427 batting average. She recorded 31 RBIs, crossed the plate 42 times, and shattered a Â鶹´«Ã½ single-season record with nine home runs in 2009—finishing third in the state. She closed her Â鶹´«Ã½ career with an impressive 14 home runs and 50 RBIs.
Raines-Germany continued her playing career at Mississippi State University, where she excelled both athletically and academically. She earned an Academic Athletics Award in fall 2010 while maintaining a 3.0 GPA, ultimately graduating with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2013.
On the field for the Bulldogs, she earned All-Tournament Team honors at both the Bulldog Classic and the Easton SEC/ACC Challenge. One of her signature moments came when her walk-off hit rallied Mississippi State to a 6-5 win, completing a series sweep against Arkansas. During the 2011 season, Raines-Germany led the team with 13 doubles and ranked among the Bulldogs’ top five hitters with a .266 batting average. She logged 154 plate appearances, ranked fourth on the team with 41 hits, drove in 29 runs (third-best on the roster), and tied for third in home runs with six.
Her induction into the Â鶹´«Ã½ Sports Hall of Fame is a testament to a career marked by athletic dominance, academic excellence, and leadership that continues to influence and inspire well beyond the softball field.
Raines-Germany resides in Senatobia, MS with her husband, DJ, and their 7-year-old daughter, Raines. She currently serves as a district manager for Planet Fitness in the Memphis area overseeing 11 different facilities that stretch from MS, TN and AR.
